Geary McLeod

Mount Saint Mary College proudly announces the addition of Geary McLeod to the Women's Basketball coaching staff. Geary will serve as the assistant coach, bringing a wealth of basketball knowledge and a deep commitment to player development to the Mount Saint Mary College community.

Geary was a standout player at Waterford High School, where he led his team to a state championship during his senior year, showcasing his leadership and competitive spirit.  After his high school success, Geary continued his basketball career as a collegiate player, donning the jerseys of Mitchell College in 2016 and Western Connecticut State University from 2017 to 2019. During his time at Western Connecticut, he played a pivotal role in leading his team to the semi-finals of the conference tournament. His talent and commitment on the court eventually earned him an invitation to EuroBasket.

Geary's transition from player to coach was a natural progression, and he has been instrumental in developing young talent ever since. His coaching career began with NY Extreme Hoops in Yorktown, NY, from June 2019 to November 2021, followed by his time with NY Basketball Academy in Carmel, NY, starting in August 2022. Currently, he is also serving as the Mahopac High School Varsity Assistant Coach in Mahopac, NY, where he contributes his knowledge to the development of young student-athletes.

Head Women's basketball Coach Marion Dietz said this about McLeod's addition to her coaching staff, "I am so excited to bring Geary McLeod in to become a part of the Mount Saint Mary women's basketball program. His basketball IQ, ability to connect with student-athletes, and his overall positive energy will impact our program significantly on and off the court."

Throughout his coaching career, Geary has worked with a diverse range of players, from middle school and high school AAU programs to public high school varsity teams. He excels in planning and executing practice sessions, scouting upcoming opponents, and fostering positive relationships with players, parents, and fellow coaches.
