Kevin Longacre

Kevin Longacre enters his 11th season as the head coach of the men's soccer program at Mount Saint Mary College in 2022 and his 12th year overall due to the season not being played in 2020 due to Covid-19.

The winningest coach in program history, Lonagacre recorded his 100th win with the Knights on September 22, 2021 in a 5-0 win at Old Westbury and holds an overall record of 107-72-16 in 10 seasons in Newburgh, guiding the Knights to a pair of 11 win seasons and a 12-win campaign and the conference title in 2013, 2017 and 2018. Longacre guided the Knights to their second straight Skyline Conference crown in 2018 and set a new program single season wins record in the process (14) which was match in 2019.

After not competing in 2020 due to Covid-19, The Mount qualified for the Skyline Conference Championship for the fourth straight season in 2022 and saw Connor Doyle, Joseph Mesoraca and Matt Wyant all named First Team All-Skyline Conference. Doyle was tabbed the league’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2022 and Wyant went on to be named Third Team All-Region by the United Soccer Coaches.

Longacre guided the Mount to 28 victories over 2018 and 2019, including an unbeaten mark in Skyline Conference play in 2019. Longacre sits two wins shy of 100 in his career at the Mount and was tabbed the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year for the fourth time in nine seasons following the 2019 campaign.

After failing to make the Skyline Conference Championship in 2015, the Knights rebounded with an 11-win season in 2016 and followed that up with a 12-win season in 2017, including an 8-1 mark against league rivals, a regular season title, conference tournament title and the program’s second ever berth into the NCAA Tournament.

Longacre was named the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year for the third time in his career in 2017 and also mentored Joey Dolan and nick Ciani who were tabbed the league’s Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year. The duo went on to earn All-East Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches.

Dolan set the program’s single season and career mark for goals as a junior in 2017 and was one of four players to earn All-Conference recognition in 2017, joining Ciani and Tyler Rapp on the First Team with Bobby Caronia landing on the Second Team for the Knights.

After winning its second conference crown in 2017, the Knights posted an 8-1-1 mark in league play in 2018, hosting the semifinal and championship rounds of the Skyline Conference Championship on its way to its third crown in program history. The Mount outscored its two opponents in the championship 5-0, with Matthew Wyant scoring three times on his way to being named the event’s Most Outstanding Player.

Four Knights were tabbed All-Skyline Conference in 2018, highlighted by First Team selections from a pair of freshmen in Wyant and Connor Doyle. Senior Connor Lynch and sophomore Joseph Mesoraca finished the season for the Mount with Second Team accolades. Wyant went on to be made a Third Team All-Eas pick by the United Soccer Coaches.

Coming off a Skyline Conference regular season crown in 2014, the Knights posted a 4-3-3 record against league opponents in 2015. Longacre mentored a pair of All-Skyline Conference selections in first team nod Michael Ennis and Second Team selection Ivan Dorador.

Coming off its first-ever Skyline Conference Championship, Longacre's team road the momentum from the year prior en route to earning the No. 1 seed in the 2014 Skyline Conference Championship Tournament and the Skyline Conference Regular Season Title. This earned Longacre the title of 2014 Skyline Conference Men's Soccer Coach of the Year, his second such award in four seasons at the helm. The Knights were upset in the semifinal round of the tournament by St. Joseph's College (L.I.). They went 11-5-2 overall and a program-best 8-1 against Skyline opponents in 2014. Longacre coached Matt Garcia to become the 2014 Skyline Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Year, a member of the Skyline Men's Soccer All-Conference First Team and a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men's All-East Region First Team. Three other Knights were named to the All-Skyline First Team, and two more earned spots on the Second Team.

Longacre led the Knights to their first Skyline Conference Championship in 2013 posting a 12-5-3 record while going 5-2-2 in conference play.  The third-seeded Knights cruised past St. Joseph's College (LI) in the opening round of the conference tournament (7-1) before going on the road and upsetting second-seeded Purchase College in a penalty kick shootout (8-7).  The upset of Purchase College brought the Knights back to the Conference title game for the second year in a row.  The second time around proved to be the charm for the Knights as they defeated fourth-seeded Farmingdale State College, 2-1.  The victory was historic as it was the program's first-ever Conference Championship.  The Knights then traveled to Stevens Institute of Technology for the first round of the NCAA Tournament, where they fell to York College (Pa.) The match was evenly contested with both teams failing to score in regulation time.  The Knights eventually succumbed to York, the No. 7 ranked team in the country, 1-0 in overtime.  Longacre coached Five players onto the All-Skyline team, three players to the ECAC Metro Men's Soccer All-Star First Team and one player to the NSCAA/Continental Tire Men's All-East Region Team.

Mount Saint Mary went 11-9-1 in 2012 and finished tied for second in the Skyline with a conference record of 6-2-1.  In the conference tournament, the third-seeded Knights defeated Maritime in the quarterfinals (1-0) and then went on the road to upset second-seeded Sage (1-0) in the semifinals to advance to the championship game for the first time in program history.  Unfortunately, the Knights fell to top-seeded St. Joseph's College.  For his efforts, Longacre was named the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year.

The Knights experienced a six-win increase during Longacre's first season, improving to 8-10-1 overall.  With a mark of 4-5-0 inside the Skyline, the Knights qualified as the sixth-seed in the postseason tournament and went on to upset third-seeded NYU-Poly in the quarterfinals before a semifinal game to second-seeded Maritime.

Prior to his arrival at the Mount, Longacre served as the head coach at Dutchess County Community College for ten years. The Falcons were ranked among the top fifteen teams nationally during six of the ten seasons, and Longacre was named the Region XV Coach of the Year in 2002.

Longacre also has deep-rooted ties to several youth programs in the area. Since founding the Goal to Goal Soccer Academy in 1998, he has organized seminars, camps, and clinics, as well as training regimens for many club teams. In 2007, Longacre joined forces with the Soccer Plus Academy of Newburgh and has since guided their Under-10, Under-15 and Under-16 boys’ teams.

Longacre attended and played soccer at the University of Richmond. A four-year starter at Richmond, Longacre currently ranks fifth all-time in career goals (25) and seventh all-time in career points (62).

Longacre resides in Poughkeepsie with his wife, Kate, and their son, Jack.
