Mark Cameron begins his first season on staff as an Assistant Coach (Goalie Specialist and Man Down Defense) for Mount Saint Mary in 2020.
 
Coach Cameron comes to Mount Saint Mary after coaching last season at Arcadia University as Assistant Coach/Goalie Specialist. Under first-year Head Coach James Purpura (2019 MAC Commonwealth Coach of the Year), Cameron's goaltenders set new program records in Goals Against (108), Save Percentage (.592) and Saves (261) while backstopping Arcadia Men's Lacrosse to a program-record nine wins and their first MAC Commonwealth playoff appearance in program history.  
 
Prior to Arcadia, Cameron coached for two seasons at Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, N.J., under 2018 NJ Lacrosse Hall of Fame Coach Joseph Haemmerle.  At Bergen Catholic, he was in charge of goalies and assisted with the defense. Cameron also served as director and program goalie specialist for Central Bergen Lacrosse Club under Coach Haemmerle. Additionally, he also coaches during the summer at The Goalie School for Bill Pilat, Head Coach, Roanoke College.
 
Cameron played defense for Coach Charlie Burch (six-time Maine Coach of the Year, 2009 U.S. Lacrosse Man of the Year) at Cape Elizabeth High School, leading the Capers as a tri-captain to their first state championship in program history.  Converted to goaltender, Cameron was a four-year letterman at the Virginia Military Institute, where he still ranks ninth all-time in single season saves (172/1993).  After college, Cameron played with both the Beck’s and Harpoon Lacrosse Clubs in 1996-1997, and then with the U.S. Marine Corps Men’s Lacrosse Club from 1999-2001.
 
Cameron is a retired Marine Infantry Officer and commanded at the platoon, company, and Task Force levels. A former Commander of Marine Corps Security Forces, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Cameron is a decorated combat veteran having served in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
 
A native of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, graduated from VMI in 1995 with a B.A. in History.  He is married to his wife Suzanne and is the proud father of three amazing children as well as three amazing step children.
