Trevor Purcell joins the Mount Saint Mary College coaching staff for his fifth season in 2012.  A four-year standout for the Mount during his playing career, Purcell is one of the most decorated players in program history.

An accomplished pitcher, first-baseman, and outfielder, Purcell was named the Skyline Conference Pitcher of the Year in 1999 and 2000 and the Skyline Conference Player of the Year in 2001 and 2002.  Purcell also made three appearances on the ABCA New York Region all-star teams.  He was named to the third team in 1999, the second team in 2001, and the first team in 2002.

A career .393 hitter, Purcell still holds the Mount Saint Mary College record for career hits with 216.  He led NCAA Division III in triples during 2001 and holds the Mount's record for triples in a season (11) and career triples (32).  Purcell also owns the records for career runs scored (161), career runs batted in (150), season slugging percentage (.750), and career slugging percentage (.639).

On the mound, Purcell posted a career earned run average of 2.57, still the lowest in Mount Saint Mary College program history.  He holds the record for career wins (22), career innings pitched (262.2), complete games in a season (8), and complete games in a career (26).

As a freshman, Purcell helped the Mount to an NCAA Tournament appearance and their first-ever victory in the tournament.

Purcell graduated from the Mount in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in public relations.  He is nearing his master's degree in secondary education.  Purcell currently teaches social studies at the San Miguel Academy in Newburgh.

A native of Walden, New York, Purcell resides with his wife, Melissa, in Newburgh.
