Matt Dembinsky enters his eighth year as the head coach of the Mount Saint Mary College baseball team in 2009. The upcoming season represents Dembinsky's 16th season of involvement with the Mount Saint Mary College baseball program.
During his tenure as head coach, Dembinsky has led the Blue Knights to a record of 115-122. His best season came in 2003 when his team finished 32-8 and earned the school's third-ever trip to the NCAA Division III Championship.
In 2003, Dembinsky earned a multitude of honors as he guided MSMC to the Skyline Conference and Knickerbocker Conference championships. He was named coach of the year by several organizations, including the NCAA Division III New York Region, the American Baseball Coaches Association of New York, and the Skyline Conference. That same year, Dembinsky helped the Blue Knights record the program's second-ever win in the NCAA tournament. The Mount also recorded the highest national ranking (No. 21) in school history.
Prior to taking over the head coaching duties, Dembinsky served as an assistant coach under Tom McTamaney for two years and was a part of the team's first two appearances in the NCAA tourney in 1998 and 1999. Dembinsky also worked under Lou Arrotta as an assistant for two seasons.
As a player from 1994-1997, Dembinsky earned numerous awards. He was named a first-team Knickerbocker Conference all-star in all four seasons and was selected as the Skyline Pitcher of the Year in 1996 and 1997. In addition, Dembinsky led the Mount to the Knickerbocker Conference championship in 1994 while also being named to the New York State all-region team in 1996 and 1997.
Dembinsky graduated from MSMC in 1996 with bachelor of arts degrees in history and political science. He also holds a master's degree in childhood education from the Mount.
A native of Poughquag, New York, Matt currently resides in Newburgh, New York with his wife, Trisha, and his twin daughters, Samantha and Alexandra.
