Jay Lamando returns to Mount Saint Mary College as an assistant coach for the baseball team for the 2019 season.

He played for NAIA powerhouse Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He was ranked 11th nationally with a batting average of .385 in 1996.  Lamando also set a school record with 61 double plays in a single season. He ended his college career with .455 batting average and .972 fielding percentage.

Prior to Embry-Riddle, Lamando played at Brevard Community College under former New York Mets hitting coach Ernie Rosseau.

Lamando was offered a free agent contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1992 upon his high school graduation.

He was recognized by Collegiate Baseball Magazine as a top-55 baseball player in the United States.

He was named MVP of the Continental Amateur Baseball Association High School World Series with a batting average of .511 in the tournament. His team, Bergen Beach Brooklyn, also included future Major Leaguers Alex Rodriguez, Todd Helton, Danny Kannell and Johnny Damon.

Lamando currently resides in Clinton Corner, NY with his wife Martha and daughters Avery and Logan.
