Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary came into this match-up with Hunter standing at 2-0, just one win away from their best start to a season since 2005. The Knights did not get off to the best start, trailing 5-2 before Nicolette Pirro earned the first kill for the Mount. The Hawks led 8-6 before a 6-1 stretch from Mount Saint Mary gave them the lead. Julianna Simone highlighted the team's offense with a game-high 15 kills on the night. The set would be tied 17-17 late in the set, but a skip-set kill from Sofia Fredericks helped spark a late run for the Knights. Fredericks found Simone for three-straight kills on a 6-1 run as the Mount took the first set 25-20.

Tied 6-6 early on to begin the second set, an 8-1 run from Mount Saint Mary gave them a 14-7 advantage. Both teams would trade points, as the Knights were able to keep Hunter at a distance. Freshman libero Abigale Greenspan once again had a great game on the defensive side of the ball, recording a team-high 13 digs. The Mount would put Hunter away in the second set with a 25-14 victory.

The third set would be the best of the match and stayed tight down to the wire. The Knights' outside attack of Julianna Simone, Emily Baron, and Nicolette Pirro combined for nine kills in the final set. Down 15-12, Hunter would score four unanswered to take the lead and force a Mount Saint Mary timeout. The Knights took the lead back, but not for long. The Hawks retook the lead, 24-23, and were at match point, looking to take a set and extend the match. The Mount fought back, concluding the set with a block from Kaitlin Dillon to seal the win for Mount Saint Mary, 3-0.
