Washington, D.C. – The Mount Saint Mary Knights were shut out in their second of two games in the Turk Emekli Classic, losing 5-0 to the Catholic University Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.

Catholic University put on an offensive clinic Sunday afternoon, scoring four first-half goals in what would eventually become a 5-0 win. The five-goal margin of victory made Sunday's match both Catholic's largest win since 2023 and the team's largest shutout win since 2022, the latter coincidentally coming in Catholic's opening match in the 2022 iteration of the Turk Emekli Classic.
Five different players scored for the Cardinals, the first goal coming off the foot of senior Donik Elshani in the 18th minute. Catholic picked up their second goal of the contest just two minutes later, with sophomore Carson Shamoo finding the back of the net on a rebound. The scoring onslaught continued in the 32nd minute, with sophomore Hamin Oladokun notching his first career goal on an assist from Kaleb Wilburn. The final Cardinal goal of the first half came in the 41st, courtesy of freshman Alessandro Marquez Zeleya. Mount Saint Mary wasn't able to get anything going offensively in the first 45 minutes of play, unable to record a shot until the second half.
Knights freshman keeper, Jacob Rauf, made his first career appearance for the Mount, making four saves on five shots faced. Already leading by four, the Cardinals were in cruise control in the second half. The fifth and final goal of the contest was scored by Jorge Gonzalez-Tello, who made his collegiate debut during the match. The Cardinals excelled on both sides of the ball, putting up 25 total shots (10 on goal) and holding the Mount to zero shots in the first half and just five shots total (2 on goal).
The Knights fall to 0-3 on the young season and will look to get back on track on the road Wednesday night at SUNY Delhi.
