Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary hit the road for its first road match of the season at Albertus Magnus College. This is the first time these two teams have met in 15 years, with their first-ever match-up taking place in Newburgh with a 2-0 Knights victory. The first shot on goal wouldn't come until the 26th minute, when
Grace Morra would get the Mount on the board first with an unassisted goal to take an early 1-0 lead. The Falcons quickly looked to respond with a couple of shots on goal, upping their offensive pressure. The Knights would commit a foul just outside of their own box to put Albertus Magnus in range for a free kick attempt. The Falcons converted on the shot to tie things up 1-1 heading into the half.
To open up the second period of play, Albertus Magnus would get a lot of offensive opportunities, putting three shots on goal in the first 15 minutes. The Knights were outshot on the game 14-3 and 9-2 on goal, but managed to stay right with the Falcons. After a plethora of substitutions, Albertus Magnus was able to feed a ball over the top of the Mount Saint Mary defense for a fast-break goal to take a 2-1 lead in the 69th minute. In the last 20 minutes of play, the Knights were unable to get anything going offensively, unable to attempt even a shot on goal, as they fell to the Falcons 2-1.
