NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's lacrosse team defeated Manhattanville as they celebrated Senior Day.

Mount Saint Mary College celebrated Senior Day prior to their game with Manhattanville University, honoring their six seniors:

Shannon McGowan would get the Knights off to a quick start with a goal 29 seconds into the game, assisted by
Kasey Senior. McGowan returned the favor moments later, finding Senior for a goal to make it 2-1. Senior led the team in scoring this game with three goals and two assists, to go along with six draw controls and three caused turnovers. The Valiants would score the equalizing goal once again as both teams went back and forth. Late in the quarter,
Shannon McGowan would assist
Kasey Senior once again for a woman-up goal to take back the lead.
Manhattanville would score first in the second quarter to tie things up at 3-3. Just over a minute later,
Evelyn Shannon would score off an assist from
Antonia Licardi for another woman-up goal for the Mount.
Delisianna Naccarato scored her first goal of the match to extend the Knights' lead to 5-3. Manhattanville responded with two goals of their own to tie the game back up. With just 25 seconds left in the half,
Kaitlin Hansen would get a favorable backspin on a tough-angle shot to make it 6-5 Mount Saint Mary.
The Knights had a tremendous start to the third quarter, scoring four unanswered goals to take a 10-5 lead. Four different Knights would score during this run, including
Shannon McGowan,
Delisianna Naccarato,
Antonia Licardi, and
Kaitlin Hansen.
Peyton Curley was stout between the pipes for the Mount, recording 10 saves in a crucial conference match that is bound to have playoff seeding implications. Manhattanville scored to make it 10-6, but the Knights' offense continued to roll, with goals from
Kasey Senior and
Danica Valente to put the Mount up 12-6. The Valiants seemed to shift the momentum late in the quarter with two goals and a woman-up advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
After scoring 12 goals throughout the first three quarters, the Knights were surprisingly unable to score in the fourth and not even attempt a single shot. The Mount Saint Mary defense stepped up with
Peyton Curley stopping all three shots on target from the Valiants. Although the Knights were unable to score themselves, they held Manhattanville to zero goals as well in the fourth quarter, as they walked away with a 12-8 victory.
