WAYNE, N.J. – The Mount Saint Mary College softball team was defeated by William Paterson in both games of its doubleheader.

Mount Saint Mary traveled to Wayne, New Jersey, to take on William Paterson as they take a break from Skyline Conference action. The Knights would load the bases with singles from
Autumn Strobach,
Chloe Graham, and
Grace MacDonald, but they would be left stranded. The Pioneers would score first in the bottom of the 2nd with an RBI single to take a 1-0 lead. A lead-off double for
Autumn Strobach in the top of the 3rd led to a run after a sacrifice fly from
Chloe Graham, scoring Strobach from third to tie things up 1-1. William Paterson responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning to take back the lead.
The Pioneers opened up their lead in the bottom of the 5th with three runs to extend their lead to 5-1. The Knights' offense provided seven hits, but just had one run to show for it all game. In the bottom of the 6th, William Paterson added another three runs to make it 8-1. Mount Saint Mary was unable to get anything going in the top of the 7th and would drop game one to the Pioneers 8-1.

The Knights looked to rebound in game two after struggling to score in the first game.
Peyton Dost took the mound for Mount Saint Mary in game two, pitching a complete game for the Mount. William Paterson would get on the board first, thanks to a wild pitch in the 1st inning. The Knights were able to muster just two hits this game, unable to take advantage of a better defensive performance in game two.
The next run wouldn't come until the bottom of the 5th, when the Pioneers score two more runs to take a 3-0 lead. Needing three runs to take the game to extra innings, the Knights got two runners on with a single from
Grace Reich and a walk from
Allie Kenney in the top of the 7th. Mount Saint Mary was unable to do anything with two runners on as they fell to William Paterson 3-0.
