Game 1
The Basics
Score: Mount Saint Mary College 1, Manhattanville 2
Records: Mount Saint Mary College (7-19, 2-9 Skyline) | Manhattanville (18-8, 6-3)
Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary hit the road to take on Manhattanville as the Knights looked to snap their seven-game losing streak. With ace
Michael Pisseri on the mound, the Mount had great hope of taking game one from the Valiants. Pisseri currently leads the Skyline in innings pitched (25.0) and is second in ERA (1.44) in conference play. Manhattanville would score early on with an RBI single in the bottom of the 1st, but Pisseri would bear down from here on. The Knights wouldn't get a hit until the 3rd inning, with hits from
Richard Lamping and
Axel Martinez, but were unable to score either of them.
With a leadoff walk in the top of the 5th,
Anthony Voss would drill a single down the left field line to advance
Nico Simou to third base. An RBI single from
Noah Anderson would score Simou and tie the game up 1-1.
Michael Pisseri dominated with the ball in his hands once again, giving the Knights 7.0 innings of quality pitching, allowing just one run and striking out four batters. With his pitch count at 128, the Mount turned to the bullpen to keep the game going in the bottom of the 8th. Unfortunately, a leadoff walk followed by a double would score the game-winning run as Manhattanville took game one 2-1.
