Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary College hosted its first Skyline Conference match this season against Farmingdale State College. The Rams would get off to a great start, catching the Knights off guard with seven unanswered goals in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead. The Mount would finally get on the board in the second quarter with two quick goals from
Danica Valente, assisted by
Delisianna Naccarato and
Shannon McGowan. McGowan was a great facilitator for the Knights this evening, recording a season-high five assists this game.
Delisianna Naccarato would score her first goal of the game later in the quarter, as they looked to gain some momentum with three straight goals. Unfortunately, Farmingdale responded with three goals of their own to round out the half and make it 11-3.
The Knights had a big hill to climb in the second half, starting off well in the third quarter with goals from
Kasey Senior and
Antonia Licardi, who were both assisted by
Shannon McGowan. Just when Mount Saint Mary thought they had some momentum, the Rams came storming right back, leading 15-5 at the end of the quarter. The Knights never gave up, fighting hard to the final whistle.
Delisianna Naccarato and
Kasey Senior would both add goals at the start of the fourth quarter. These would be the final goals for Mount Saint Mary as they would eventually lose to Farmingdale 18-7 and drop to 2-1 in conference play.
