KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's volleyball team was bested by Merchant Marine on the road.

Mount Saint Mary traveled to Kings Point to take on Merchant Marine in their second Skyline Conference competition of the season. The Knights opened up scoring the first two points before a 7-0 flurry from the Mariners put them down 7-2. The Mount took advantage of some miscues from Merchant Marine, along with some kills set up by
Vanessa Seymour to tie things up 12-12. The Knights began to falter towards the end of the set as the Mariners went on yet another big run to make it match point 24-18. Mount Saint Mary continued to fight, but the deficit was ultimately too much as USMMA won the first set 25-21.
Julianna Simone opened up the second set with a kill as the Knights got off to a solid start, up 6-2. Another big rally from the Mariners gave them the lead, but the Mount would stay level headed. They took back the lead 10-9, right before Merchant Marine would got on yet another run. This 8-2 run put Mount Saint Mary down 17-12, and they were never able to recover, losing the second set 25-15.
The Knights went down early in the third set, though a 10-2 run put them in the drivers seat. Kills by

Vanessa Seymour gave them some much needed offensive energy. The Mount held a 17-13 lead late in the set, but Merchant Marine would make their way right back into it. We were all tied up 20-20, with
Ava DiScala providing some offense with 3 kills towards the end of the set. The Mariners would end up coming out of the third set on top 25-22 and winning the match 3-0.
