BRONX, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College softball team split games in their doubleheader with Mount Saint Vincent.

Grace MacDonald took the mound as they looked to extend their win streak to 5 games.
Grace Reich singled to leadoff the game, then advanced to third off an error.
Chloe Graham knocked Reich in to take an early 1-0 lead. MacDonald left 2 Dolphins runners stranded in the bottom half of the inning striking out the side. In the bottom of the 3rd, errors would catch up to the Knights, as Mount Saint Vincent took advantage, scoring 4 runs to go up 4-1. Mount Saint Mary committed a total of 5 errors this game, with 3 coming in the 3rd.
The Mount responded with a big inning in the top of the 4th. With runners on 2nd and 3rd,
Michaela Manger singled, scoring
Grace Terpening and starting a rally. Hits from
Dana Donnelly,
Autumn Strobach,
Chloe Graham, and
Grace MacDonald scored 5 more runs as the Knights took a 7-4 lead. Both teams cooled off offensively, and there wasn't another hit until the 6th inning. Donnelly doubled with 2 outs, scoring
Ariana Corrente and adding an insurance run to their lead. The Dolphins attempted a late comeback, getting runners on first and second to start the inning, even scoring a run, but
Grace MacDonald clutched up and finished the game. Mount Saint Mary defeated Mount Saint Vincent 8-5 in game 1.

(Game 2)

In game 2, Mount Saint Vincent would strike first in the bottom half of the 1st inning. A few hits for the Dolphins led to 2 runs, giving them a 2-0 lead. The Knights offense started off cold, with their first runner reaching base on an error, but nothing would come of it.
Grace MacDonald settled in and was able to handle the Mount Saint Vincent batters in the 2nd and 3rd.
Chloe Graham got the Knights first hit in the top of the 4th, which sparked the team's offense.
Grace MacDonald followed up with a single of her own to put two runners on. With 2 outs,
Madison White hit a big-time single to score Graham and put Mount Saint Mary on the board. With bases loaded, the Mount was unable to do any more damage as they still trailed UMSV 2-1. The Dolphin's were able to tack on another run in the bottom of the 4th to extend their lead to 3-1. The Knights went cold after their big 4th inning, not able to get another hit as they fell 4-1 in game 2.
