PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College softball team swept St. Joseph's Long Island in their two-game doubleheader.

Mount Saint Mary looked to bounce back on the road against St. Joseph's Long Island Sunday afternoon. The Golden Eagles put the Knights into a scare early on in the bottom of the 1st, but
Grace MacDonald left two runners stranded. The Mount put on a clinic in the top half of the 2nd, starting with singles from MacDonald and
Grace Terpening.
Allie Kenney,
Michaela Manger, and
Dana Donnelly all recorded RBIs to put the Knights up 4-0. Then a bases-clearing triple from
Chloe Graham added another 2 runs onto the scoreboard. In the top of the 3rd, Donnelly singled up the middle to score
Madison White and extend their lead to 7-0. The Golden Eagles were able to get something going in the bottom half of the 3rd, but MacDonald ended the inning with a strikeout before too much damage could be done.
From here, both offenses seemed to simmer down.
Autumn Strobach singled to lead off the inning, but the Knights would strand 2 runners.
Grace MacDonald continued to deal on the mound, not allowing a single hit until the bottom of the 7th. St. Joe's did not get a hit until their final out, where MacDonald would strike out the next batter to end the game and win the first match 7-1.

Grace MacDonald was back on the mound for game two of a doubleheader as the Knights looked to sweep the Golden Eagles. Mount Saint Mary started off hot as
Grace Reich reached first on an error and stole second base.
Autumn Strobach followed up with a single and a stolen base of her own.
Grace MacDonald scored Reich on a sacrifice fly, then Strobach scored on an error to put the Mount up 2-0. They added another run in the bottom half of the 2nd as
Dana Donnelly singled to left center to score
Allie Kenney. The Knights would load the bases in the top of the 3rd, but nothing would come of it. St. Joseph's got on the board in the bottom half of the inning to make the game 3-1.
The bats for Mount Saint Mary continued to stay hot as MacDonald singled down the line to score a run.
Madison White singled to knock in another runner, then a walk with bases loaded for
Megan Mann made it 6-1, Knights. In the top of the 5th,
Chloe Graham showed her power with a double to score a run, then
Ariana Corrente singled as a pinch hitter to put them up 9-1.
Grace MacDonald iced the game in the bottom of the 5th with a strikeout as Mount Saint Mary won 9-1 in 5 innings due to the 8-run lead mercy rule.
