Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary looked to end the season on a high note after being knocked out of playoff contention in their previous game. Bobby DeSantis opened up the game with a faceoff win, as he played like a man possessed this afternoon, winning 16 of 19 faceoff attempts and a career-best 14 ground balls in his final collegiate game. DeSantis was also able to break the single-season program record for most ground balls with 111. The Knights would turn the ball over, and the Golden Eagles took advantage to get on the scoreboard first. The Mount had a tough time breaking the St. Joe's defense as they extended their lead to 2-0. Robby Maurer was finally able to break the silence with 2:37 left in the quarter as he buried the first goal of his career. A minute later, Joe Keating would find Chris Murolo to tie the game up and put the Golden Eagles on their heels. Murolo opened up the second quarter with another goal, which made three unanswered for the Knights as they took their first lead of the game, 3-2. Both teams attempted a lot of shots in the quarter, but with very little accuracy. Those that did reach the goal were mostly saved as Kenny Leen had another solid outing, making 11 saves between the pipes. St. Joe's was able to squeak one by as that closed out the scoring in this defensive battle, as we were tied 3-3 heading into the half.

The Golden Eagles were able to put one in early to start the third quarter, taking back the lead 4-3. The Knights answered the call as their leading scorer on the afternoon, Chris Murolo, scored a man-up goal to tie the game back up. 11 seconds later, the Swiss Army Knife Bobby DeSantis won the faceoff and charged down the field to score and take the lead 5-4. The game would be stuck in an offensive stalemate for about 7 minutes before Larry Frank would extend their lead off a pass from Tim Doyle. While a 2-goal lead seemed like a lot in this one, it wasn't. St. Joe's scored moments later to snap Mount Saint Mary's momentum. The Golden Eagles added another goal early in the 4th, shifting things in their favor. The Knights needed a response in hostile territory if they were going to come away with a win. Senior Joe Keating, who has been huge for the Mount all season long, put a shot in the back of the net to go up 7-6. Just like it has been all game long, St. Joe's followed up with a goal of their own as this game was coming down to the wire. Mount Saint Mary's defense came up clutch to kill off a late penalty as neither team was able to score, forcing overtime. The Golden Eagles won the opening draw, but they still had to get past the brick wall of Kenny Leen. Leen made 2 key saves to extend the game and put the Knights on offense. Tim Doyle found Joe Keating for the game-winning goal as the Knights came out on top 8-7 in dramatic fashion.
