Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary is coming off two losses and looked to get back in the win column at home against Vermont State University Castleton. The Knights turned the ball over on their first possession but managed to force back-to-back Spartans turnovers, which allowed them to take advantage and score the first goal of the match. The Mount continued to build momentum with Kasey Senior and Karlie Ferrucci adding to their lead. Shannon McGowan had two scores in the first quarter of play as she totaled a career-high 6 goals this game. The Knights held a 5-0 lead after the first 15 minutes of play. Liz Petrellesse started in net for the first half, with Peyton Curley playing the second. Both keepers were stout, making a combined 9 saves and only allowing 3 shots past them. The second quarter started off slow before Delisianna Naccarato and Alejandra De Leon would convert on two free position attempts to extend their lead to 7-0. The Spartans would get on the board right after, but the Knights would go on another run, scoring 5 unanswered to go up 12-1 at the half.

Victoria Maffettone, who had her best game of the season, set up Karlie Ferrucci for a woman-up goal to start the third quarter. Maffetone also added 7 ground balls as it seemed like she had a magnet in the head of her stick this afternoon. Antonia Licardi not only scored but also forced a Castleton turnover leading to a Shannon McGowan goal with the Knights down a player to lead 16-3 at the end of the third. 8 different players for the Mount would score goals this game as everyone was spreading the wealth. Mount Saint Mary's defense, which is led by juniors Briana Fassett and Gabriela DiPalma, locked in for the final quarter of play, not allowing a single goal and forcing 5 turnovers. The Knights added 4 more goals tapped off by a woman-up goal by Anastazia Sakowicz to defeat Vermont State Castleton 20-3.
