NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's lacrosse team lost on the road to New Paltz Wednesday afternoon.

Mount Saint Mary looked to rebound after a tough road trip to Maine Maritime against New Paltz. Things went south quickly, with the Knights committing turnovers on their first four possessions and committing two yellow cards in the first 5 minutes. The Hawks took advantage of some poor play from the Knights and scored 5 goals early on. New Paltz continued to dominate and went up 8-0 before the Mount could attempt a shot on goal. Mount Saint Mary would find themselves down 10-0 after the first 15 minutes of play.
Delisianna Naccarato finally got the Knights on the board in the second quarter after converting a free-position goal. The Mount could not find an answer for New Paltz on either side of the field as they trailed 15-1 heading into the half.
Graduate midfielder
Julia McGrinder had a solid game for the Knights with 3 caused turnovers and 2 ground balls. Mount Saint Mary played much better defensively in the third quarter, holding the Hawks to just one goal, but were unable to score one themselves.
Victoria Maffettone and
Delisianna Naccarato scored two unanswered goals to begin the fourth quarter as the Knights started to get something going on offense.
Shannon McGowan capped off a slow day at the office for the Mount with her 8th goal of the season towards the end of the game. Mount Saint Mary would ultimately lose this one to New Paltz 19-4.
