NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College softball team hosted William Paterson for a doubleheader.

Mount Saint Mary started off this one slow as William Paterson knocked in 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning. The Knights would reach base in both the 1st and 2nd innings, but double plays ended things early.
Samantha Stallone would lead off the bottom of the 3rd getting hit by a pitch and eventually reaching third base with only one out. Nothing would come out of it as the Knights still trailed 3-0 after three.
The Pioneers added a couple more runs in the top of the 4th to go up 5-0.
Grace MacDonald doubled with two out in the bottom half of the inning, and
Chloe Graham scored her by blasting a ground ball right under the shortstop's glove. Graham would also make a tremendous play to hose a runner out a home in the top of the 5th to end the inning. Mount Saint Mary put their rally caps on to start the bottom of the 6th as Graham would double, and
Grace Terpening scored her with an RBI single to make it 5-2 Pioneers.
Allie Kenney opened up the bottom of the 7th with a leadoff single. With only one out,
Grace Reich would single to put runners on first and second, but the Knights would be unable to score as they dropped the first game 5-2 to William Paterson.

Mount Saint Mary looked to get their first victory of the season in the second game of their doubleheader with William Paterson. Once again, the Pioneers came out the gate scoring and took an early 1-0 lead.
Chloe Graham had quite the day for herself, as she doubled to start off the bottom of the 2nd. She would reach third base after a sacrifice bunt but would be left stranded. William Paterson ripped 4 hits in the top half of the third to extend their lead to 3-0.
Madison White led off the bottom of the 3rd with a single, and one batter later, Graham would hit a 2-run shot to left field to cut their deficit to 3-2. The Pioneers added an insurance run in the next inning after a one-out triple. The Knights went 1-2-3 in the next two innings and were running out of time. William Paterson made it 6-2 after a 2-RBI double in the top of the 7th.
Chloe Graham led off the bottom of the 7th with a solo shot to left field again as she would go 4 for 5 on the day with 2 homers, 2 doubles, 4 RBIs, and 2 runs. Mount Saint Mary would be stopped there as they fell to the Pioneers 6-3 in game two.
