Rapid Recap
The first game of today's doubleheader with Russell Sage was a classic pitcher's duel, as
Grace MacDonald was on the mound for the Knights. MacDonald did not allow a hit until the 3rd inning, but that runner was left stranded on first after she struck out the next batter to end the inning. The Gators were able to get runners on base in the bottom half of the 4th with a one-out single. Another single, followed by a stolen base, put runners on second and third, but a routine ground ball for
Chloe Graham at short ended the inning.
In the top of the 6th,
Ariana Corrente reached first on an error to start the inning.
Autumn Strobach singled to advance Corrente to second base.
Grace MacDonald showed her two-way ability by singling to center field for her second hit of the day and knocking in the go-ahead run. MacDonald finished the 6th and 7th innings on the mound, going 1-2-3 to secure Mount Saint Mary's first win of the season 1-0.
Notes and Numbers

(Game 2)
Rapid Recap
Game two looked a whole lot different as the bats were very much active from the jump.
Grace Reich opened up the game with a leadoff single, as she went a perfect 5 for 5 this game.
Chloe Graham,
Grace Terpening, and
Allie Kenney all singled to tally 1 RBI apiece. The Knights were not done there, as
Michaela Manger notched a 2 RBI single and Reich got her second at bat of the inning to get yet another hit as the Mount led 6-0 after the top of the 1st. Russell Sage was able to score a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning, but the Knights continued to stay hot on offense. Out of their 17 hits this game,
Grace Terpening would hit Mount Saint Mary's only extra base hit in the top of the 2nd. Two more RBI singles from
Allie Kenney and
Megan Mann put them up 8-1. The Gators added a couple more runs in the bottom of the 2nd to stay in the game.
For a game that saw 11 runs in the first two innings, neither squad would score until the 5th inning, when
Autumn Strobach and
Grace MacDonald added 2 more runs to put the Knights up 10-3. Russell Sage attempted to rally in the bottom of the 6th, scoring 3 runs with two outs.
Grace MacDonald would come in relief for
Peyton Dost and finish out the game, squashing a Gators comeback and winning game two 10-7.
