Baseball Edged Out by Williams College

NEWBURGH, N.Y. - Mount Saint Mary Baseball loses in a close battle to WIlliams College 7-6.

Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary Baseball returned to New York from Florida for their home opener, where they took on the Williams College Ephs. The Knights started the game off hot in the bottom of the 1st inning. Frank Signorelli singled, followed by a Chris Calvario single that moved Signorelli to third. Calvario stole second, and Tyler Van De Bogarts RBI single scored Signorelli. An error by Williams' catcher allowed Calvario to score, giving the Knights a 2-0 lead. 

Williams responded in the 3rd with two runs scored on an error to even it up 2-2. The Knights took the lead again in the 3rd. Tyler Van De Bogart doubled, and Tyler Crocitto's RBI double scored him. Stephen Volk then singled to bring Crocitto home, making it 4-2. Williams cut it to 4-3 in the 4th with a triple and a sacrifice fly. Mount Saint Mary extended the lead to 5-3 in the bottom of the 4th on a Reese Kelly RBI single scoring Luke Barone.

Williams responded again in the 5th after an RBI single and two passed balls putting Williams up 6-5. Mount Saint Mary answered right back in the bottom of the 5th on a Chris Calvario RBI double, evening the score at 6-6.

The decisive moment in the game came in the 7th for Williams. After two 2 out singles an error allowed Williams to score the go-ahead run, making it 7-6. Mount Saint Mary threatened in the bottom of the 7th with Signorelli on third but could not capitalize. In the 9th Williams threatened with a double but was left stranded. Mount Saint Mary went down in order in the bottom of the 9th, and Williams held on for the 7-6 victory.
