Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary looked to get revenge after losing to Mount Saint Vincent in last year's Skyline Conference Semi-Final at home. Maggie Trinkaus got the Knights started on their first possession with a layup assisted by Kate Hughes who had an already great game with a team-best 5 assists. Both Hughes and Lauren Petrie got going early, with Petrie scoring a career-high 19 points this game. Mount Saint Mary would close out the first quarter with a 5-point advantage up 17-12. This was a gritty and physical game from the jump, as both teams saw key players in foul trouble early on. Skyline First Team All-Conference forward Brianna Guglielmo finally got on the board to start the second, as she always finds ways to make an impact. The Knights held the lead for pretty much the entire quarter until the Dolphins were able to tie the game 23-23 with 4:19 left. Mount Saint Mary shut down UMSV for the remainder of the half, finishing on a 9-0 run with 7 of the points coming from Lauren Petrie.

The Knights led 32-23 coming out of the half, as Maggie Trinkaus would go to the line on their first offensive possession. Mount Saint Vincent slowly crept back into the game as Mount Saint Mary was held to without a field goal for nearly 5 minutes of the third quarter. Angelina Donato ended the scoreless drought for the Knights as they still held a 36-31 lead. The Mount finished off the quarter strong as Kate Hughes made her first career three after a pull-up jump shot to beat the buzzer and put the Knights up 48-36. Mount Saint Mary had another poor start to a quarter to begin the fourth, but they would once again respond when the Dolphins got close. Angelina Donato would knock down a dagger three as she was falling out of bounds, erupting the crowd and bench. The Knights were able to hold off Mount Saint Vincent 68-51 and avenge their loss from last season. Mount Saint Mary will now face #1 seeded Merchant Marine at Kings Point this Saturday, March 1st at noon.
