NEWBURGH, NY – AJ Piedra,
Chris Yearwood,
Jayden Racca, and
Ryan Graham of the Mount Saint Mary Men's Basketball team have been named to the 2023-24 NABC Honors Court as announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches Monday afternoon.
The NABC Honors Court recognizes men's college basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the previous season. In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The student athlete must be academically a junior, senior or graduate student and a varsity player, have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the academic year, and be a member of a four-year institution with at least one active NABC-member coach.
AJ Piedra is a junior sports management major who plays guard for the Mount. This past season, Piedra appeared in one game against Misericordia on 11/09 where he would score his first career points.
Chris Yearwood secures another academic award as the graduate student was also named to the Skyline Conference Academic Honor Roll during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. The sports management major had a career year that season averaging 14.2 points on 40.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Yearwood only appeared in one game this past season due to injury where he scored 3 points against Purchase on 2/17.
Jayden Racca was a staple forward for the Knights, as the senior public relations and journalism major appeared in 25 games last season, starting 4 of them. Racca averaged 4.9 points a game on an efficient 48.3% and shot a stellar 42.9% from three. He was also named to the Skyline Conference Academic Honor Roll during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons.
Ryan Graham finished up a career-best season during his senior year where he was third on the team in scoring and the leading assist man for the Knights. Graham crushed his career-high in points and rebounds on 1/13 against Mount Saint Vincent with 26 points on 8-12 from the field and 7 boards.
