NEWBURGH, NY – The Mount Saint Mary College softball team split a doubleheader against the Western Connecticut State University Wolves on May 1, 2024. The Knights dropped Game 1 by a score of 6-2, but rallied in Game 2 for a 2-0 victory.
Game 1: Wolves 6, Knights 2
The Wolves took an early lead, scoring three runs in the top of the 1st inning. The Knights answered back with two runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning. A leadoff single by Kristen Tellier and a sacrifice fly RBI from Olivia Ferara ignited the rally. Sadly, the Wolves shut down the Knights for the rest of the game, extending their lead with a run in the 5th and two in the 7th.
Despite the loss, several Knights players had solid performances. Tellier went 1-for-3 with a run scored, and Ferara went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Grace Macdonald pitched a complete game, allowing six runs (five earned) off nine hits.
Game 2: Knights 2, Wolves 0
The Knights bounced back in Game 2, securing a 2-0 shutout victory. Dana Donnelly starred on the mound, throwing a complete-game shutout, surrendering just six hits. She also walked away with the win.
The Knights' offense was sparked by Ferara again, scoring a run on a Chloe Graham ground rule double.

The Knights will hit the road on May 4th to take on Sarah Lawrence College in another doubleheader starting at 12pm.
