Knights Battle in Tight Loss in Doubleheader

Farmingdale, NY – The Mount Saint Mary College Knights (15-21, 10-6) went the distance in a close doubleheader against Farmingdale State (28-8, 15-1) on Friday, earning a hard-fought split.

Game 1: Farmingdale State 4, Mount Saint Mary College 1

The Knights faced a strong offense from the Rams in the opener. Farmingdale State jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the second inning, capitalizing on a Mount error. The Knights responded in the top of the seventh as Sofia Gannon (1-for-3, 1-RBI) drove in Grace Terpening for a run, but they couldn't complete the comeback.

Olivia Ferrara (2-for-4) led the Knights' offensive efforts with a multi-hit game. Grace MacDonald (9-12) took the pitching loss, allowing four runs (two earned) across six innings.

Game 2: Farmingdale State 1, Mount Saint Mary College 0

The Knights put up a valiant defensive fight in the second game, but narrowly fell to the Rams in a tightly contested match. Grace MacDonald (9-13) was the standout for the Knights on the mound, throwing a complete game giving up six hits and allowing only one run. The Knights struggled to generate consistent offense to drive in any runs.

Looking Ahead

The Mount will travel to Sarah Lawrence College on May 4th for another doubleheader at noon.

Head Coach Samantha Howe Comments

"It was a tough loss in the second game, but I was proud of how the team battled defensively," said Howe. "Grace [MacDonald] pitched a fantastic game, and we had some opportunities to break through offensively. It didn't go our way this time, but the effort was there, and we'll use this as a learning experience moving forward."
