New Paltz, NY – The Mount Saint Mary College Knights baseball team fought it out against SUNY New Paltz today. Despite a strong offensive showing early in the game, the Knights ultimately fell 18-5, in a hard-fought contest at Loren Campbell Field.
Early Success The Knights jumped out to an early lead, scoring in the top of the first inning. Frank Signorelli (2-5, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI) and William Reese Kelly (1-3, 1 R, 1 BB) proved instrumental in the run, with a key single and a walk respectively. Luke Barone (2-5, 2 RBI) capped the inning off with a two-run single.
The Knights continued to add to the score in the next two innings, pushing their lead to 5-4 by the top of the 3rd inning. Unfortunately, SUNY New Paltz went ahead in the bottom of the 3rd and went on to score multiple runs over the subsequent innings.
