NEWBURGH, NY – The Mount Saint Mary College women's lacrosse team pulled off a thrilling 14-11 victory over the visiting Maritime College Privateers today at Alumni Field. With the win, the Knights surge into a strong position for the upcoming Skyline Conference playoffs.
The Knights got off to a scorching start, building a 6-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Karlie Ferrucci spearheaded the Mount offense, delivering four goals and two assists. Maritime battled back in the second period, matching the Knights 3-3. In a tightly contested third quarter, both teams fought hard, but the Knights held onto their slight edge 11-9.
Shannon McGowan continued to lead the Mount offense, tallying another goal and two assists. The fourth quarter brought even more drama as Maritime closed the gap. However, the Knights, led by Ferrucci, McGowan, and
Victoria Ward who each netted four goals, held off a valiant comeback effort by the Privateers.
