Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse | | D.J. Bevivino

A Disappointing End to the Women's Lax Season but the Memories will Last Forever!

NEWBURGH, NY – The Mount Saint Mary College Knights women's lacrosse team battled hard in their Skyline Conference semi-final matchup against the Maritime College Privateers. The Knights played a tough game, but ultimately fell short, ending their 2024 season with a final score of 19-9.

The Knights were led by Victoria Ward, who netted four goals and two assists on the day. Shannon McGowan also helped the Knights' efforts, racking up two goals. Karlie Ferrucci, Delisianna Naccarato, and Kate Crooker each contributed one goal to the team's total. Goalkeeper Liz Petrellese saved one goals in the first half, and Peyton Curley saved seven goals in the second.

The Mount's defense fought hard, but Maritime's offense was relentless. Defender Maggie Horan played well with two forced turnovers and three ground balls. Kate Crooker and Karlie Ferrucci each had one forced turnover, with Ferrucci also snagging one ground ball.

After the game, head coach Mike Lowell had this to say: "Maritime did a great job in preparing for this repeat game. They came out fast and powerful. Against a team this good, our little mistakes turned into goals. Not the game we wanted for our seniors and fifth years to go out on. Victoria, Alyssa, Erica, Ella, Olivia, Maggie, and Kate have done their job and left the program stronger than they found it. We are ready to get a little rest and begin preparing for next year! We look forward to our new members joining us in Fall 2024."

A special congratulations to graduate student Victoria Ward, who ends her incredible career as a Knight with a total of 202 career points.

With this loss, the Mount finishes with a record of 10-6. Congratulations to the Knights on a strong season, and best of luck to the seniors and fifth years in all their future endeavors.
