Men's Lacrosse Finishes Season with Gritty Win Over Purchase College

PURCHASE, NY – In their final game of the season, the Mount Saint Mary College Knights men's lacrosse team pulled off a hard-fought 6-2 victory over the Purchase College Panthers. The win signifies a positive end to the season that unfortunately did not end with a playoff berth.

The Knights, led by  Larry Frank's 3 goal performance, controlled the pace of play throughout the game.  The defense, anchored by goalie Kenny Leen with 10 saves, was a force in front of the net.

"Great to end the season with a win!  The guys played hard and left it all out on the field. We are already excited for next season," said Coach Justin Lorenzo following the game.

Key Stats
  • Larry Frank led the way for the Mount Saint Mary offense with 3 goals and an assist.
  • Henry Micyk and Xavier Rodriguez each had one goal and one assist, demonstrating the depth of the Mount's offensive firepower.
  • Keeper Kenny Leen played superbly in goal making 10 saves.

How it Happened
  • The Knights struck first with an unassisted goal by Larry Frank midway through the second quarter.
  • The Panthers answered shortly before the half as Kevon Joseph snuck one past Leen.
  • The Knights then scored two goals to break open the game. Bobby DeSantis and Frank scored in succession to give the Mount a 3-1 lead.
  • The Panthers' Zach Collins cut the deficit with an assisted goal in the fourth quarter.
  • The Knights closed out the game with a flurry, as Micyk and Rodriguez put the game out of reach.
Looking Forward:
The Knights finished their season with a respectable 4-9 record. While the playoffs were not in the cards, Coach Lorenzo has laid the groundwork for a promising future with his young squad. The Mount will undoubtedly be hungry to build on this year's momentum when they return to the field for the next season.
