NEWBURGH, NY – The Mount Saint Mary College Knights softball team continued their strong season with a dominant doubleheader sweep against the Purchase College Panthers on Sunday afternoon. The Knights showcased their offensive firepower and solid defense, outscoring the Panthers 23-5 over both games.
Game 1: Knights Explode for 10-0 Victory
The Knights wasted no time establishing their offensive dominance in the first game, jumping to an early 8-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Olivia Ferara (CF) and
Laura Dentato (RF) set the tone with back-to-back walks, while a fielder's choice, sacrifice fly, singles by
Sofia Gannon (LF) and Grace Macdonald (P), and a two-RBI double from
Riley Norwood (3B) piled on the runs. The offensive onslaught continued with a two-RBI double by
Kristen Tellier (2B), giving the Knights a commanding lead.
The Mount added two more runs in the bottom of the third. Norwood led off the inning with a single and scored on a double by Tellier. Ferara followed with another double, plating Tellier for the Knights' tenth run.
Macdonald pitched a complete-game gem for the Knights, allowing only three hits and striking out seven batters. Her strong performance on the mound solidified the Knights' shutout victory.
Game 2: Offensive Fireworks Lead to 13-5 Win
Second Inning: The Knights continued their offensive onslaught in the second game, tallying seven runs in the bottom of the second inning.
Dana Donnelly ignited the rally with a single, followed by walks by Ferara and Tellier.
Laura Dentato singled up the middle driving home two runs.
Chloe Graham reaching on an error bringing home another run.
Third Inning: The Knights kept the pressure on in the third inning.
Grace Terpening start things off with a single, and relief pitcher Grace Macdonald's single brought her home.
Kristen Tellier walked, and was moved around the bases when
Olivia Ferara singled up the right side.
Laura Dentato was walked next, and
Chloe Graham's single up the middle drove in two more runs. This offensive surge scored four more runs for the Knights and put them in the lead at the bottom of the third 11-5.
The rest of the game was in
Grace MacDonald's hands. She stuck out four Panthers in the 4
th and 5
th innings allowing no hits and no runs. The Knights ultimately secured a comfortable 13-5 victory capped off with a run in the bottom of the fifth.

- Olivia Ferara: Combined to go 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBIs, two walks, and two doubles.
- Laura Dentato: Went 3-for-5 with four RBIs, two runs, one double, and one hit-by-pitch.
- Chloe Graham: Went 5-for-8 with four RBIs, two runs, and two errors.
- Grace Macdonald: Combined to go 3-for-4 with three RBIs, three runs, and one double while also pitching a complete game in game one and pitching relief in game 2 with no hits, no runs, and 4 strikeouts.
