Knights Fight Through Double-Header Loss On The Road

Wayne, N.Y. — Knights Softball fell to William Paterson University in their double-header this afternoon, ending with a score of 3-7 in the first game, before a 6-7 finish in game two.

Game 1: Tough Start For The Mount

William Paterson successfully held off the Knights in the first game of the day, holding them to three runs scored.

Chloe Graham (Rocky Point, NY), Sophia Reed (Aiken, SC) and Sofia Gannon (East Patchogue, NY) helped lead the scoring effort, all earning one RBI apiece.

Grace MacDonald (Concord, NH) held strong on the mound with six strikeouts this game.

In the seventh inning, Grace Terpening (Kingston, NY), Olivia Ferara (Middletown, NY) and Graham all rallied hits to earn two more runs for the Mount, but it ultimately wasn't enough to come out with a win.

Game 2: Knights Tighten Up

In today's second game, the Knights made some adjustments to come back stronger against the Bears.

At the plate, Reed and Graham earned three hits apiece, Terpening had two, while Kristen Tellier (Sayville, NY) and Riley Norwood (East Haven, CT) each had one.

Terpening got the Knights going in the second inning, ripping a homerun out to left field. Reed kept this momentum up in the third, with her second double of the day and an RBI driving in two more runs for the Mount.

Graham's up-the-middle single drove Norwood in to score in the fourth inning, which would ultimately be the final run scored by the Knights that game. The Knights held off the Bears for the last two innings, keeping the score at 6-7.

Looking ahead, the Knights will host the University of Mount Saint Vincent for their alumni day on April 20 at 12 p.m.
