Utica, NY- The Mount Saint Mary College Knights men's and women's indoor track and field teams continued their strong start to the season at the Utica Pioneer Fast Trax Invitational, bringing home personal bests and showcasing impressive talent across multiple events.
Head Coach Fred Callo was proud of his athletes' performance, stating, "Nice job yesterday by our athletes. We had a bunch of season best distances and times by many, including Lindsey's all-time PR in the women's shot put and Chris coming within a second of breaking the men's 600-meter record. The team's dedication and hard work is obviously paying off!"
On the women's side, Maria Baldwin displayed versatility with a personal best in the 60m (8.86 seconds) and a solid 12th place finish in the 400m (1:06.50). Jessica Kerrigan impressed with a 10th place finish in the 60m (9.09 seconds), a season-best jump of 3.95m in the long jump, while Vanessa Mleczko achieved personal bests in both the 60m (9.70 seconds) and 200m (33.92 seconds). Lily O'Brien continued her strong showing with an 11th place finish in the high jump (1.42m) and a season-best jump of 4.58m in the long jump.
The highlight of the women's meet came from Lindsey Medina, who shattered her personal record in the shot put with a throw of 9.72m, good for 13th place and an all-time best for Mount Saint Mary College.
The men's team was led by Christopher Christiano, who narrowly missed the school record in the 600m with a time of 1:27.61, finishing a close 6th place. He also competed in the 800m, placing 23rd with a time of 2:05.86. Michael Gillespie set a personal best in the 60m dash (7.69 seconds) and added another personal best in the 200m (25.55 seconds). Ramasoj Williams also achieved personal bests in both the 60m (7.75 seconds) and 200m (25.16 seconds).
They look to continue their momentum at the upcoming West Point Tune-up on February 17th.
