Knights Win Big Over Maccabees

Newburgh, NY- The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team continued their winning streak tonight, cruising past the Yeshiva University Maccabees 84-38. The dominant performance was just what the team needed as they are less than a week away from the Skyline Conference tournament.

"It was a solid performance by the whole team," praised Head Coach Marion Dietz. "We saw great ball movement and we finished our chances."

The Knights displayed their dominance from the get-go, leading by 25 points at the end of the first quarter and never looking back. Shannon Phelan (11 points, 10 rebounds) and Lauren Petrie (7 points, 6 rebounds) provided a strong presence in the paint, while Brianna Guglielmo (15 points) contributed valuable minutes off the bench.

The Mount shot 50% from the field, including a sizzling 86.4% from the free-throw line. Their defense was equally impressive, holding Yeshiva to a mere 38 points and forcing 16 turnovers.

Several Knights had standout performances:

Brianna Guglielmo: The sophomore guard exploded for a team-high 15 points, including 7 perfect shots from the free-throw line.
Shannon Phelan: The Junior guard recorded a well-rounded performance with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Lauren Petrie: The junior guard contributed 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
