Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary hoped to get a win against the City College of New York in their first home game since November 19th. Right from the jump sophomore forward
Josiah Jones made his impact felt through his hustle, securing seven offensive rebounds throughout the game.
Connor Cyran scored the first bucket of the night for the Mount as they trailed early on. Moments later, Cyran would get a tough and-one layup to fall, converting the free throw to give the Knights a 7-6 lead. Mount Saint Mary trailed just behind the Beavers for the next 10 minutes, until the Graham brothers
Brenden Graham and
Ryan Graham knocked down back-to-back threes to take back the lead 23-21. The Knights led by as many as four in the first half, but that would be short-lived as their struggle to score consistently from all three levels found them down 37-34 at the half. Combined with CCNY shooting 57.69% from the field, the Mount was just able to stay in the game with their ability to get to the charity stripe.
The second half saw the Knight's defense improve, holding the Beavers to just over 40% from the field and limiting them to one three-pointer made. The problem was Mount Saint Mary couldn't stay out of foul trouble. CCNY had 26 free throw attempts in the second half, gaining the bonus with still over seven minutes to play. The Knights found themselves down 12 with six minutes to play but they did not give up. They picked up the intensity as a
Rob Geremino jumper sparked a 6-0 run to make it a two-possession game. A three from the Beavers extended the CCNY lead to nine and a double technical after a shooting foul moments later sealed the Knights' fate as they were now down 69-54. Mount Saint Mary would ultimately lose this game to CCNY 76-65.
