Mount Saint Mary is still looking for their first Skyline Conference win of the season, hoping that it would be against Merchant Marine. The Knights came out with energy getting the first two shots on goal within the first five minutes of the match. Things quickly turned sour as a header found its way to the back of the net for the Mariners as they took a 1-0 lead. Mount keeper Caesar Martinez came up big in the first half, stopping several scoring chances for USMMA. Martinez compiled eight saves in the first 45 minutes of play. They may not have scored, but Mount Saint Mary put four shots on goal and created more opportunities than they had in recent games.

The match shifted to a more defensive battle in the second half of play as both squads did a better job limiting each other's chances. The Knights really needed someone to create an offensive spark for them as they have only scored one goal in their last three matches. Martinez stayed solid between the pipes, keeping the Mount in the match. Jeremy Burgos provided the only shot on goal for the Knights in the second half, which came in the first two minutes. They weren't able to challenge the Mariner's goalie much as Liam Hughes attempted three shots in the second half with hopes of tying the game. Mount Saint Mary came up just short as they could not convert on their late second-half push losing 1-0 to Merchant Marine.
