Masayda and Lerner Honored On Senior Day

Newburgh, NY- The Mount Saint Mary College Knights swam their hearts out against the William Paterson Pioneers on Saturday, but ultimately fell short in the end. Despite the loss, there were plenty of highlights for the Knights, especially for our graduating seniors Kitty Masayda and Jackson Lerner.

Coach Chris Mance had high praise for his senior leaders: "They started their careers in college swimming my first year with the team. I couldn't have asked for two better people to build a culture around. They are two people I have always been able to count on to inspire the rest of the team to reach new heights and teach out new swimmers about what it means to be a knight. It has been a privilege to watch them grow as people and swimmers. I know their will to succeed in the pool will carry into their careers."

Individual Highlights:

Women's 1000 Yard Freestyle: Grace Machugh led the way for the Knights with a second-place finish in 12:22.47.
Men's 50 Yard Freestyle: Jackson Lerner touched the wall first in a thrilling race, clocking in at 24.09.
Women's 200 Yard IM: Masayda finished third in 2:29.98, showcasing her versatility.
Men's 100 Yard Butterfly: Lerner earned another victory, this time in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.40.
Women's 100 Yard Breaststroke: Masayda capped off her strong showing with a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke at 1:12.83.
Men's 100 Yard Breaststroke: Michael D'Ambrosio took second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:14.54.
Senior Day:

It was a bittersweet day as we celebrated the careers of Masayda and Lerner. Both swimmers have been instrumental in the Knights' success over the years, and their leadership and dedication will be sorely missed. We are confident that they will continue to achieve great things in their future endeavors.

Overall:

While the Knights didn't come away with the win, they showed a lot of heart and determination in the pool. Coach Mance was proud of his team's effort and is looking forward to seeing them continue to improve throughout the season.
