New Paltz, NY- Day one of the New Paltz Hawks Volleyball Invitational is in the books. Treacherous rain and thunderstorms punished the bus on the way to the game and things didn't get much better during the game. Dropping the match in three straight sets to Union, the Knights showed a glimmer of good things to come in the last set.
"We just are having trouble figuring it out right now and making it click, but I am hopeful it is going to turn around." Said Coach Strano after the game.
Jonaiya Williams led the team with 5 kills, 7 digs and 3 aces, and teammate
Aubriana Boyce had 8 assists and 2 aces of her own. Defensively,
Isabella Israel, and
Erin Lema lead the team defensively with a combined 18 digs (11 and 7).
The Knight play two matches Saturday vs Russell Sage College at 12:15pm and New Paltz at 4:45pm
