Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Softball team split a Skyline Conference doubleheader at Old Westbury Saturday, blanking the Panthers 8-0 in the opener before falling 5-2 in game two.
Bridget Morris (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) earned the game one win in the circle, striking out eight.
Saturday's split moves Mount Saint Mary to 12-14 overall and 5-3 in conference play, while Old Westbury sees its standing move to 7-11 overall and 5-3 against conference rivals.
Game 1: Mount Saint Mary 8 – Old Westbury 0
How It Happened
- The Knights broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third with their first two runs of the contest.
- Kaeli McAnally (Bay Shore, N.Y.) led off the frame with a single and after moving to second on a sacrifice bunt, scored the game's first run on an error.
- Grace MacDonald (Concord, N.H.) later singled home Olivia Ferara (Middletown, N.Y.) to give the Mount a 2-0 advantage.
- The Mount tacked on two more runs in the fourth to open a 4-0 advantage.
- Alicia Killeen (Nesconset, N.Y.) laced a one-out double and moved to third on another McAnally base hit.
- With runners on the corners, McAnally and Killeen executed a double to steal to get in front 3-0.
- McAnally scored the second run of the inning with one out in the frame.
- Mount Saint Mary broke the game open with three more runs in the top of the fifth inning.
- Jenna Cedeno (Staten Island, N.Y.) crossed on an error before Ferara was hit with a pitch with the bases loaded, forcing home Laura Dentata (Farmingdale, N.Y.).

How It Happened
- After Old Westbury scored in the home half of the first, the Knights responded with two tallies in the top of the third to open a 2-1 lead.
- Cedeno tied the score with a sacrifice fly that drove in McAnally, ahead of a Dentato single that pushed across Samantha Bendig (Tampa, Fla.).
- The Panthers came right back with two runs in the bottom of the inning to move back in front 3-2.
- Shannon Myles evened the score with a run scoring single before Hillary Bennet delivered the go ahead run with a groundout.
- Old Westbury tacked on two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth to close out the scoring in the game.
- Tylyn Lasane crossed on a fielder's choice to make the score 4-2 with Jenna Gaspa pushing home a run with a groundout.
- The Knights were retired in order in their final two at-bats to close out the game.
