Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Softball team got back into the win column with a pair of Skyline Conference victories on Wednesday, topping St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 7-4 and 7-3. The Knights saw five players record multiple hits in the opener and combined for 26 safeties over the two victories.
Wednesday's sweep moves Mount Saint Mary to 11-13 overall on the season and 4-2 in conference play while St. Joseph's dips to 14-10 overall and 3-1 in league play.
Game 1: Mount Saint Mary 7 – St. Joseph's 4
How It Happened
- The Knights pounded out 14 hits in the opener and saw five players recorded multiple hits.
- After falling behind 1-0 in the second, the Knights came back with two runs in the bottom of the second on a two-run single from Kaeli McAnally (Bay Shore, N.Y.).
- The Bears got a run back in the top of the fourth before the Knights plated four runs to take the lead for good in the game in the home half of the inning.
- Olivia Ferara (Middletown, N.Y.) highlighted the big fourth inning with a two-run home run with Jenna Cedeno (Staten Island, N.Y.) adding an RBI single.
- St. Joseph's came back with a run in the fifth but the Knights answered right back again, getting a run scoring single from Melanie McClinchey (Medford, N.Y.) that made the score 7-3.
- The Bears got an RBI infield single from Arianna Heinsch in the sixth, but would not get any closer than the final three-run decision.
For The Knights
- Cedeno finished game one 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
- Ferara connected on her second home run of the season and went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI.
- Samantha Bendig went 2-for-4 for the Knights.
- Alicia Killeen (Nesconset, N.Y.) produced two hits and scored two runs.
- McAnally finished 2-for-2 with a walk, two runs and a pair of RBI.
- McClinchey and Sophia Reed (Rockaway, N.J.) each recorded a hit with McClinchey driving in two runs.
- Bridget Morris (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) worked a complete game and moved to 6-6 on the season in the circle. She allowed four runs on seven hits while striking out six.

How It Happened
- The Bears got out to an early 1-0 lead again in game two, getting an unearned run in their first at-bat.
- Mount Saint Mary came right back with two runs in the bottom of the first when Cedeno shot a single down the left field line that drove home Grace MacDonald (Concord, N.H.) and Ferara.
- Mount Saint Mary got another run in the fourth when McAnally advanced two bases on a bunt single and then scampered home when home plate was left uncovered.
- The Bears scratched out a run in the fifth before the Knights broke the game open with four tallies in the bottom of the same frame.
- Killeen singled in a run to open the scoring in the fifth and McAnally drove in her third run of the day with a single through the right side.
- McAnally and Killeen scored the final two runs of the inning on a St. Joseph's miscue to make the score 7-2.
- The Bears got their final run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly.
For The Knights
- MacDonald closed the game 2-for-4 with a double at the plate and earned the win in the circle. MacDonald worked a complete game and allowed just one earned run while punching out four Bears.
- Sofia Gannon (East Patchogue, N.Y.) went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
- Killeen recorded two more hits, including a double, scored a run and drove in one.
- McAnally finished game two 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
- Ferara recorded a hit and scored a run in the game two victory.
