Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Lacrosse team returned to Skyline Conference play on Wednesday and suffered a hard fought loss at Farmingdale State by a score of 11-6.
Victoria Ward (Oceanside, N.Y.) finished the game with six points, including the 100th of her career, and
Karlie Ferrucci (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) won a career-high nine draw controls.
Wednesday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 4-7 overall on the season and to 1-2 in conference play, while Farmingdale State improves to 4-7 overall and evens its league mark at 2-2.
How It Happened
- Ward opened the scoring just 32 seconds into the game with her 25th marker of the season to give the Knights an early 1-0 lead, hitting the century mark in points in her career.
- The Rams came back with the final two goals of the first period and the next three overall to open a 3-1 advantage on a Molly Espey marker with 12:21 left before halftime.
- The Knights cut into the deficit with 1:19 left in the second quarter when Ward buried her second of the game to bring the Mount to within 3-2 heading into halftime.
- Coming out of the break the two teams alternated the first four goals of the third stanza.
- Ward completed the hat trick with 5:05 left in the third frame to cut the Farmingdale State lead to 5-4 before an Anna Hughes marker in the final two minutes of the period sent the Rams to the fourth quarter with a 6-4 lead.
- Espey and Ferrucci traded goals to open the fourth before a four-goal run for the Rams broke open an 11-5 advantage with 29 seconds left to play.
- Four different Rams scored over the deciding run, including a player-up goal from Epsey with 1:17 left to play.
- Ward closed out the scoring in the contest with her fourth of the game with just 16 seconds remaining.
For The Knights
- Ward continued her torrid scoring pace with four goals and two helpers pushing her team lead in goals to 28, assists to 15 and points to 43. Ward closed out the day with a groundball and a draw control. Ward becomes the seventh player in program history to surpass 100 points in her career.
- Ferrucci scored her 15th goal of the season and led all players in the game with a career-high nine draw controls.
- Antonia Licardi (Pine Bush, N.Y.) found the back of the net for the 11th time for the Knights.
- Kate Crooker (Boonton, N.J.) won four draw controls and picked up a groundball for the Mount.
- Anastazia Sakowicz (Newburgh, N.Y.) caused a team-high two turnovers.
- Sinead Henry (Pearl River, N.Y.) secured three groundballs.
- Liz Petrellese (Levittown, N.Y.) made 11 saves in the contest for the Mount and picked up a team-high five groundballs.
For The Rams
- Espey led the scoring attack with four goals while adding four groundballs a caused turnover and a draw control.
- Hughes tallied a hat trick.
- Megan Diamond scored a goal and assisted on two others to go along with a team-high three draw controls.
- Kristin Stabiner caused three turnovers and secured four groundballs.
- Adrianna Schiavone forced three miscues and picked up three groundballs.
- Ronnie Reilly turned aside 13 shots to earn the win in goal.

- Farmingdale State posted a 33-21 advantage in overall shots, but just a slim 22-19 edge in shots on goal.
- Farmingdale State held the advantage in groundballs, 25-17.
