Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Lacrosse team closes out a three-game road swing this week with road games at New Paltz on Wednesday and at SUNY Delhi Saturday afternoon. At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary scored its second straight win to open the season on March 4 following an 11-10 double overtime victory at Marywood.
Maxwell Green Wright (Central Islip, N.Y.) potted the game winning goal just over a minute into the second extra session to close out a five-point game.
Green Wright sits atop the team leaderboard in scoring, holding onto sole possession of the team lead in goals with six and points with nine. Green Wright is one of three players tied for the team lead in assists, joining
Sal Gallucci (Manorville, N.Y.) and
Mike Travers (Staten Island, N.Y.) with three helpers apiece.
Nick Gurello (Selden, N.Y.) is second on the team in goals with five with
Joe Keating (Pleasantville, N.Y.) heading into Wednesday's contest with three markers. Gallucci, Travers and
Xavier Rodriguez (Hackettstown, N.Y.) have all found the back of the net twice through two contests for the Knights.
Joseph Angelillo (Pompton Plains, N.J.) helps to anchor the backline for the Knights with a team-high five caused turnovers and ranks second on the squad with seven groundballs.
Carmine Comitini (Staten Island, N.Y.) supports the stout defensive corps with four caused miscues and six groundballs.
Anthony Paggiotta (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) serves as the team's primary face-off man, winning 15 draws over the first two contests of the season. Paggiotta also leads the way for the Knights with nine groundballs to date.
Kenny Leen (Miller Place, N.Y.) mans the goal for the Mount and is coming off a career-high 12 saves against Marywood on Saturday. Through two games, Leen is sporting a .533 save percentage and a 6.71 goals against average while turning aside 16 shots.
Skyline Conference Honors: Following is 12-save performance on Saturday, Leen was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week.
Scouting New Paltz: The Hawks enter Wednesday's contest winless in three outings and are coming off a tight 10-8 loss at the hands of Morrisville State on Sunday.
Ryan Scully and Anthony Senecal lead the way for the Hawks with six goals apiece with Scully tied for the team lead in points with eight. John Reese paces New Paltz with three assists and joins Scully atop the team leaderboard in points with eight.
Four Hawks lead the team with four caused turnovers apiece, including Zachary Leung and Michael Devoe who also lead the team with 14 groundballs apiece.
Matt Brignati has won 38 face-offs through three games and holds a winning percentage of .559 while adding 10 groundballs.
In goal, Ryan Steinhart has started all three contests and played 165:57 of a possible 180:00 to date. Steinhart has stopped 40 shots and holds a .563 save percentage and a 11.21 goals against average.
Recent History: The Knights and Hawks met for the first time ever in 2022 with the Mount coming away with a 10-9 overtime victory at Kaplan Field.
A Look At The Broncos: SUNY Delhi enters a Thursday tilt at Keystone with an 0-4 record and is coming off a 6-4 loss to Castleton on Monday.
Benjamin Moscatiello leads the team in goals and points with nine and 12, respectively, while Jagger Beachak is tops on the team with four assists.
Zachary Seebach and Samuel Steng lead the defensive effort with seven caused turnovers apiece with Steng leading the team with 16 groundballs. Anthony Ferrato has won 31 face-offs to date for the Broncos and is second on the team with 12 groundballs.
Steng is Delhi's primary goalie, starting all four contests to date. He has stopped 42 shots for the Broncos while posting a .467 save percentage and a 12.17 goals against average.
Recent History: The Knights also squared-off with SUNY Delhi for the first time in 2022 and posted a 10-8 victory at Kaplan Field on March 17, 2022.
What's Next: The Knights return home for the first time since the season opener on March 15 when they welcome local foe Vassar to Kaplan Field. The Mount will then take back to the road on March 18 with a trip to Roger Williams.
