Fishkill, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Baseball team picked up its first win of the season Wednesday evening with an 8-1 non-conference victory over Albertus Magnus.
Devin Tait (Staten Island, N.Y.) recorded three hits in the game and
Matthew Borriello (Montgomery, N.Y.) earned his first victory of the year on the mound.

Wednesday's win marks the first for first year head coach
Trevor Purcell and improves the Mount to 1-3 overall on the season. Albertus Magnus slips to 0-2 in the early going of the 2023 campaign.

How It Happened
- Mount Saint Mary got all the scoring it would need with two tallies in the bottom of the second inning.
- Brandon Nolasco (Chester, N.Y.) started the inning with a walk and a one-out single from Ryan Lutinski (Easton, Conn.) gave the Mount two base runners.
- With two outs in the inning, Robert Brust (Shirley, N.Y.) sent a double down the left field line that delivered Nolasco and a misplay in the outfield allowed Lutinski to come around for the early 2-0 lead.
- The Knights spread their lead to 6-0 with four more runs in the fifth inning, taking advantage of three hits and three hit batsmen.
- Nolasco lined a single to center field that delivered Jack Goodwin (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) Â and Anthony Franco (Franklin Square, N.Y.) to move the Mount in front 4-0.
- Tait later scored on a Coleman Barnes (New Hampton, N.Y.) sacrifice fly before Lutinski drove in Nolasco with a single to give the Knights a six-run cushion.
- After the Falcons scored a run in the top of the seventh, Mount Saint Mary put the game away with two more runs in the home half of the eighth.
- Franco lofted a one-put triple to left that delivered Goodwin who singled to lead off the inning.
- Franco later scored on Tait's third hit of the night, a single through the middle to close out the scoring in the game.

For The Knights
- Tait continued his hot start to the season, going 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI. He is now hitting and even .500 through four games with team highs in hits with seven and RBI with four.
- Lutinski finished the night 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
- Goodwin and Franco each picked up a hit and scored two runs.
- Nolasco recorded a hit, scored two runs and drove in a pair.
- Brust doubled and drove in a run.
- Borriello worked 3.0 innings in earning the win, allowing two hits and striking out two.
- Brian Gregory (Florida, N.Y.) worked 4.0 innings in relief, allowing a run on five hits while fanning three.
- Michael Di Tullio (Montgomery, N.Y.) and T.J. Gregory (Florida, N.Y.) each worked a scoreless inning of relief with Gregory fanning the side in the ninth.

- King Rivera went 2-for-4.
- Nick Ramos recorded a hit and scored the team's lone run.
- Bobby Arent drove in the team's only run.
- A.J. Rooks suffered the loss, allowing one earned run on three hits in 4.0 innings. He struck out eight against two walks.
