Women’s Lacrosse Topped At New Paltz

Ferucci, Licardi score for the Knights

New Paltz, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Lacrosse team was in action for the first time since March 12 Wednesday afternoon and suffered an 18-2 road loss at New Paltz. Karlie Ferrucci (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) and Antonia Licardi (Pine Bush, N.Y.) supplied the goals for the Knights.
 
Wednesday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 2-4 overall on the season, while New Paltz improves to 4-2 through six tilts.
 
How It Happened
  • New Paltz did all the scoring in the first three periods, holding a 13-0 lead at halftime and a 15-0 advantage through three stanzas.
  • Kaitlyn Shaw scored four first half goals for the Hawks to go along with an assist before the break.
  • Julia Longo assisted on five first half markers for New Paltz with Maddie Gillies adding a goal and two helpers over the first 30 minutes.
  • Mount Saint Mary broke through with its first goal at the 11:01 mark of the fourth quarter when Licardi potted a player-down goal.
  • The Knights added their second goal of the game with 7:47 left in the contest when Ferrucci finished off a feed from Erica Schmidgall (North Massapequa, N.Y.).
 
For The Knights
  • Ferrucci moved into a tie for first place on the team with her 10th marker of the season. Ferrucci added three groundballs for the Knights in the game.
  • Licardi potted her seventh goal of the season and finished with a pair of draw controls, a groundball and a caused turnover.
  • Briana Fassett (New Milford, Conn.) and Kate Crooker (Boonton, N.J.) joined Ferrucci with a team-high three groundballs.
  • Fassett posted a team-high two caused turnovers.
  • Carolyn Del Debbio (Southington, Conn.) won two draws and added two groundballs.
  • Liz Petrellese (Levittown, N.Y.) closed the game with three saves in goal.
For The Hawks
  • Shaw rounded out a big game with six goals and seven points while adding four draw controls and two groundballs.
  • Longo finished with nine points on the strength of seven assists  and added three groundballs.
  • Camryn Ryder tallied three goals and won six draws.
  • Shannon Brosnan won six draw controls, scored a goal and collected two groundballs.
  • Mia Baldinger caused two turnovers for the Hawks.
  • Gabriella Tommaso earned the win in goal with four saves.
  • Mollie Harris made two stops in 30 minutes of work.
 
Game Statistics
  • New Paltz finished with a 31-9 advantage in shots and a 21-8 edge in shots on goal.
  • Groundballs went to New Paltz by a 22-15 margin.
  • New Paltz controlled the draw control game, 18-5.
  • Mount Saint Mary went 11-for-17 in clearing attempts.
  • New Platz finished 15-for-16 in clears.
