Knights Return To Action Against Vassar, Roger Williams

Knights in action for first time since March 8

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Lacrosse team returns to action for the first time since March 8 on Wednesday evening when it plays host to Vassar before taking to the road and traveling to Roger Williams on Saturday. Live Stats and Video will be available for both contests for those unable to attend.
 
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary returns to Kaplan Field for the first time since the season opener on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. when it takes on local foe Vassar. The Knights are coming off a tight 11-8 road loss at New Paltz on March 8 and begin play against the Brewers with a 2-1 overall record.
 
Maxwell Green Wright (Central Islip, N.Y.) leads the scoring attack for the Knights through three games with nine goals and 12 points with Nick Gurello (Selden, N.Y.) checking in with five goals. Coming off a hat trick and four points against New Paltz, Larry Frank (Staten Island, N.Y.) begins the week with four tallies and six points for the Mount.
 
Mike Travers (Staten Island, N.Y.) is second on the team with eight points through three games and leads the team with five assists. Sal Gallucci (Manorville, N.Y.) is second on the squad with four helpers and has chipped in a pair of markers for six points.
 
Joseph Angelillo (Pompton Plains, N.J.) and Carmine Comitini (Staten Island, N.Y.) anchor the back line for the Mount with each sitting atop the team leaderboard with six caused turnovers. Angelillo adds nine groundballs with Comitini scooping seven groundballs.
 
Anhtony Paggiotta (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) has won 21 face-offs for the Knights through three contests and leads the team with three groundballs with Tim Doyle (Selden, N.Y.) sitting second on the team in groundballs with 10.
 
Kenny Leen (Miller Place, N.Y.) is off to a strong start in his career in goal, stopping 23 shots to date while producing a .479 save percentage and an 8.10 goals against average.
 
Scouting Vassar: After dropping an 11-10 decision to Montclair State in the season opener, the Brewers have ripped off five straight wins and head to Newburgh on Wednesday with a 5-1 overall record. Vassar is outscoring its opponents 74-41 through six games and is coming off a 21-9 victory over Wheaton (Mass.) on Saturday.
 
The Brewers feature three players with at least 10 goals on the season led by 11 apiece from Troy Santise and Riley Olds. Santise also paces the team with 12 assist and is good for a team-high 23 points. Ian Zumpano rounds out the trio in double-figures in goals with 10 to go along with two assists.
 
Solomon Hess has caused 12 turnovers to date to lead the team to go along with 24 groundballs, while Dillon Dierman has forced 11 miscues and picked up 12 groundballs.
 
Holden Anderson has won 57 face-offs and holds a .543 percentage and sits atop the team leaders in groundballs with 27.
 
Vassar has used a trio of goalies to date with Jack Bagin starting five contests and playing 255:00 of a possible 300:00. He has turned aside 40 shots and holds a .533 save percentage and an 8.24 goals against average.
 
Recent History: Wednesday's game will be the first between the Knights and Brewers since a 15-8 win for Vassar at Kaplan Field on March 3, 2020. The two teams have played eight times since the start of the 2013 season with Vassar winning the last two matchups of six of the previous eight.
 
A Look At Roger Williams: The Hawks enters a Wednesday tilt with Skidmore with a 3-2 overall record and are coming off an 18-10 loss to MIT on March 8.
 
Kevin Murphy and Matt Halpin lead the way in goals with 16 and 15, respectively, and sit atop the team leaders in points with 19 and 17. Ryan Vendetti is one of five players with at least four assists on the season, leading the team with five helpers and ranking third on the team with 10 points.
 
Kyle Zirn has caused a team-high nine turnovers to date to go along with 10 groundballs. Jordan Pivarnik has gone 37-for-83 in face-offs for the Hawks and leads the team with 24 groundballs.
 
Max Kimmel has seen all the action in goal for Roger Williams over the first five games of the season and has made 66 saves. Kimmel enters Wednesday's tilt with a .559 save percentage and a 10.54 goals against average.
 
Recent History: Saturday's contest will be the first meeting between the Hawks and Knights.  
 
What's Next: The Knights welcome FDU-Florham to Newburgh on March 22 before heading back to New England to tussle with Curry College on March 25.
