Knights Men Sweep, Women Come up Short in the Pool at Sarah Lawrence

Bronxville, NY — Knights Swimming headed to Sarah Lawrence College to face the Gryphons and Cardinals of York College this afternoon. The men swept both teams today, while the women fell to the Gryphons.

This was the first meet of the season with longer-distance events, testing the limits of both teams.
Women's Recap:
The women were swimming solely against Sarah Lawrence this afternoon, coming up short with a 77-95 loss. There were close swims all over the pool today, but the Gryphons' lineup had greater depth, that scored more points in the end.

Individual wins today came from Meghan Wurster, Grace MacHugh and Kitty Masayda. Wurster and MacHugh had two wins apiece.

Wurster kicked off the meet with the Knights' first win for the women in the 1650-yard freestyle, coming in at 20:24.57 before winning the 500-yard freestyle later on with a time of 6:00.21.

MacHugh took home a win in the 200-yard individual medley, at 2:29.52. She then swam an electric 100-yard freestyle, touching out a Gryphon by just 7 hundredths of a second for first place at 1:01.40.

Masayda took care of the 200-yard breastroke with a winning time of 2:44.17.

Men's Recap
The men took home victories against both teams today, with an 81-36 score over York College and 71-29 over Sarah Lawrence College.

Men's individual wins came from Jackson Lerner, Michael D'Ambrosio and Tyler Williams. D'Ambrosio earned himself three wins, While Lerner and Williams each had two.

D'Ambrosio took care of the sprint freestyle races today, coming in at a 26.95 in the 50-yard race, then 59.74 in the 100-yard race. Then, he won the 200-yard breastroke with a time of 2:57.16.

Lerner won the 200-yard freestyle with a 2:08.64, then the 500-yard freestyle at a 6:14.98. Williams won the 200-yard individual medley at a 2:45.45 and the 200-yard backstroke, coming in at 2:35.19.

"The team really swam well today," said Head Coach Chris Mance.

Knights Swimming will compete again in back-to-back meets next week on Nov. 10 and 11, hosting Adelphi University and SUNY Delhi at home Friday night, before heading to Bard College Saturday afternoon.
