Weekly Preview- Fall Coming to an End

Newburgh, NY- What a week (week plus a few days) it has been for Mount Athletics.  We saw a few seasons come to an end, a few compete for a championship and teams get their seasons under way. Let's take a look back at last week, recognize our region honorees, and see what is coming up for the Knights.

Previous week Recap
  • Men's Golf Competed in the Skyline Championship at Bethpage State Park and finished third in the conference.  Jonathan Kara was named to the second All-Conference team
  • Women's and Men's Cross Country also competed at their Conference Championship over the weekend.  Sara Kannenberg finished the race in 10th place and helped her team finish 7th overall.   The men's team suffered a few in race injuries that do not allow the team to place.  Sarah was also named to the 2nd Team All-Conference
  • Men's Soccer earned a draw early in the week in a heartbreaking end, and their rained-out game was played on Monday which ended in a 3-2 Knight's victory.  Peter Ramirez had three goals over the two games.
  • Women's Soccer lost a very tough match to St. Joe's Long island, but rallied back with a 3-0 win over Purchase College, and a 6-0 win over St. Joe's Brooklyn.  The team also played a non-conference game with Hamilton College which ended in a 1-2 defeat.
  • Women's Volleyball when 1-1 in conference play this week and had two tough draws in non-conference play over the weekend.  According to D3Sports Data Jonaiya Williams was the second-best performer in women's volleyball last week in all NCAA DIII Volleyball with 72 kills.
  • Men's and Women's Swimming was supposed to have their first home meets of the season, but the meet had to be cancelled last minute due to travel issues.
  • Women's Basketball IS BACK and ready to go.  Under the new direction of Coach Marion Dietz, the team played in their first scrimmage of the year.

  • Sarah Kannenberg- Women's Cross Country Second Team All-Conference
  • Peter Ramirez- Men's Soccer Honor Roll
  • Mary Langan- Women's Soccer Honor Roll
  • Maria Baldwin- Women's Soccer Honor Roll

Notable Upcoming Matches
  • Women's Soccer has their first Skyline Conference Playoff game on Saturday the 28th, opponent and location TBD.
  • Men's Soccer will play their last match of the season today at 6pm at the College of Mount Saint Vincent.
  • Swim will travel to Brooklyn for a meet on Friday.
  • Women's Volleyball will have the second to the last home match this week on Thursday

To the Knight's whose seasons have come to an end, we are incredibly proud of the seasons you had.  To the seniors who are leaving us, thank you for your years of dedication.  To the Mount community, we thank you for all your support this fall and hope you continue cheering on our teams as they continue their seasons or begin new ones.  Let's Go Knights!
