Kings Point, NY- The Mount Saint Mary College (MSMC) Knights took on the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in a hard-fought game at Liebertz Gym. The odds seemed stacked against the Knights entering the match with a conference record of 3-2 and the Mariners boasting a 7-1 record, but Coach Strano and his team never back down from a challenge.
The final set scores of 22-25, 12-25 and 25-27, showed the fight that the Mount put up.
Jonaiya Williams had herself another big night with 15 kills.
Aubriana Boyce had 14 assists, and
Vanessa Mleczko (14) and
Allie Kenney (12) lead the team for digs. The team rose to the occasion this evening, not backing down and forcing the third set into tie breakers.
Despite the setback of the loss, the Knights showed they are much better than what their record dictates and are a force to be reckoned with. They are looking forward to their upcoming matches on Saturday. They will be facing UMass Boston at 2 PM and Western Connecticut State at 4 PM. The Knights aim to carry their positive spirit into these matches as they continue their competitive season.
