Knights Open Four Match Road Trip At Farmingdale State

Knights begin play Tuesday winners of six straight

Newburgh, N.Y. – Winners of six straight matches, including the last five at home, the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team continues Skyline Conference play and opens a four-match road trip at Farmingdale State Tuesday night. The Mount continues the road trip on Saturday when it heads to Montclair State for a pair of non-conference contests. Live Stats and Video will be available for all three matches this week for those unable to attend.
 
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary moved its winning streak to six matches with a pair of four set victories on Saturday, topping league rival the College of Mount Saint Vincent and non-conference foe John Jay at the Kaplan Center.
 
The Knights enter the new week at 7-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play with senior Grace Riddle (Wantagh, N.Y.) leading the offensive attack with 173 kills, averaging better than four winners per set, while hitting an even .300. Riddle also leads the team in service aces (22) and digs (129) while adding six total blocks.
 
Riddle has produced double-digit kills in each of the Mount's 11 matches to date, including 27 against John Jay, setting a new four-set single match record.
 
Freshman Erin Lema (Centereach, N.Y.) has her career off to a strong start, putting away 75 kills to go along with 21 service aces, ranking second on the team in both categories. Lema has lifted 88 digs for the Knights and totaled three blocks.
 
Fran Cammarata (Camel, N.Y.) is averaging 7.31 assists per set, handing out 285 helpers to date, and supports the offense with 22 kills and 19 service aces. Cammarata is also one of three Knights to post at least 10 blocks on the season, joining Sabrina Romano (Glen Cove, N.Y.) who leads the team in the category with 13 and Brooke Lavelle (Staten Island, N.Y.) who has totaled 11.
 
League Leaders: Riddle enters the week as the Skyline Conference leader in total kills (173) and kills per set (4.44), while ranking 12th in digs per set (3.31) and service aces per set (0.56). Cammarata currently ranks fourth in the conference in assists per set (7.31).
 
Scouting Farmingdale State: The Rams enter Tuesday's contest with a 1-7 overall record and an 0-1 mark against conference opponents. Farmingdale State has dropped its last four contests overall, including non-conference decisions to Stevens and Manhattanville on Saturday.
 
Kalena Ricketts leads Farmingdale State in a pair of categories, putting away a team-high 64 kills to go along with a team-best 17 total blocks. Ricketts' mark of 0.63 blocks per second currently ranks second in the Skyline Conference.
 
Madisyn Pozo leads the way with 104 digs for the Rams, while Lexi Cavalieri has handed out a team-high 109 assists. MIkayala Profeta enters Tuesday with the team standard in service aces with 16.
 
Recent History: The Knights and Rams have met 18 times since the 2007 season heading into Tuesday with the Mount holding a slim 10-8 advantage in the series. The Mount won eight of nine meetings from 2010-2015, while the Rams have won each of the last five matchups.
 
A Look At Montclair State: The Red Hawks enter a NJAC clash with Stockton on Tuesday with a 5-7 overall record and a 1-2 mark in conference play. Montclair State has dropped five of its last six outings, with the lone win coming in five sets at Ramapo on September 20.
 
Leah Higgins has put away 164 kills for the Red Hawks, averaging just shy of four per set, with Delaney St. Pierre handing out 248 assists, averaging an even eight per stanza. Emily Carcich supports the offense with 129 assists for Montclair State.
 
Katie Rodman has lifted 150 digs to date with Gianna Arias controlling the net with 36 total blocks through 12 matches.
 
Recent History: Saturday's meeting will be the seventh between he two programs since the start of the 2012 season.
 
Previewing Brooklyn: The Bulldogs travel to NJCU on Thursday sporting a 7-6 overall record and are coming off a straight set win over Maritime on Monday.
 
Tessa Winkleman and Amra Mulic lead the offense for Brooklyn with Winkleman putting away 114 kills and Mulic leading the team with 230 assists and 35 service aces.
 
Zoey Van Vleet has lifted 175 digs to date for the Bulldogs, while Chidera Nwaghanata has totaled 20 blocks through 13 contests.
 
Recent History: The Knights and Bulldogs will meet for the sixth time since 2007 on Saturday, with the Mount holding a 3-2 advantage in the pervious five matchups. The Knights won three straight matches in the series before the Bulldogs scored a four-set victory last season.
 
What's Next: The Knights close out the road swing at league rival Manhattanville on October 3 before hosting St. Joseph's-L.I. and King's (Pa.) on October 8.
