Men’s Soccer Set For Pair Of Skyline Conference Contests

Knights continue league play against Mount Saint Vincent, Maritime

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team opens a two-game week when it plays host to the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday night before traveling south to square off with Maritime Saturday night. Live Stats and Video will be available for both two contests for those who are unable to attend.

At A Glance: The Knights are looking to get back into the win column following the 4-1 loss at the hands of Yeshiva on Sunday, dropping them to 2-4-1 on the season. Matt Wyant (Beacon, N.Y.) has the lead on offense for the Mount with four points, including one goal and a pair of assists, as well as a team-high 22 shots. Marco Mazzarelli (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and Chris Maggi (Franklin Square, N.Y.) have each added a goal of their own. In goal, Caesar Martinez (Lake Katrine, N.Y.) has started and finished all seven games, posting a healthy 1.57 goals allowed average, while also pitching three shutouts.

Previewing Mount Saint Vincent: The Dolphins, the 2021 conference champions,  enter Wednesday nights contest 3-2 on the season, losing to Rowan 3-1 on Saturday. Augustus McGiff leads the Dolphins offensive attack with four goals, good for nine points total. Dominic Algieri and Carlos Romero have added two goals apiece, while Mario Bunjaj leads the team with three assists. Erick Pantoja has played 180:18 in goal, making four stops and allowing two scores. Joel Luna has played 179:03, while making 12 saves and allowing seven goals.

Recent History: In 13 matches dating back to 2007, the Knights are 9-3-1 against the Dolphins. Mount Saint Vincent did win 3-1 in their matchup last season.

A Look At Maritime: The Privateers enter a Wednesday tilt with Sarah Lawrence sporting a record of 1-4-1 overall on the campaign following a loss to Yeshiva, 8-0, Thursday night. Thomas Luongo has scored two goals, good for a team-high, on four shots. Nick Glancy has assisted on two goals to lead the team, while Justin Song and Jason Carseni have each fired off eight shots, as they tie for the team lead. In between the pipes, Augusto Lebron and Danny Madeira have split time, with Lebron owning a 2.19 goals against average, and Madiera posting a 4.16 goals against average. Lebron has posted the line shutout.

Recent History: Since 2007, the two teams have met 19 times, the series going in the Mount's favor, 12- 7. The Knights won 5-0 at home last season.

What's Next: The Mount will play two league games next , trevleing to Sarah Lawrence on Tuesday before playing host to Farmingdale State on Saturday.
